Since there is a thread for the other two Mario games, there should prob be a specific one for this one I remember first playing this in the 5th grade. I can remember playing the first level and thinking how awesome it was.

There's one thing I absolutely loathe about Mario 64, and it's nothing to do with the game itself.

It got launched alongside Pilotwings 64, and Pilotwings vanished into obscurity, completely dying on Nintendo's formats. A tragedy for a brilliant game.

Mario 64 itself is a great game, but I never did get all 120 stars (legitimately). Pity the DS version was somewhat lacking - despite the additions to it.

heh, I just remembered using Game Shark to apply some weird settings to the textures in the game, fun times! It was pretty fun getting 120 stars and beating Bowser with Mario was on some shrooms. lol

The cannon is used after you get 120 stars so you can get to yoshi on top of the castle where he gives you 100 lives.

I never understood why you weren't given the 100 lives prior to getting everything already. If you need 100 lives to reach bowser and free Toadstool, I'd have doubt that you were the one playing the rest of the game up to that point.

yep. I would almost guess they orig planned to allow you to use Yoshi, but ran out of room.

Anyways, Galaxy 2 will most likely be Yoshi's first main appearance as a main role in a normal Mario game since Super Mario World!
